Dear all,
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all your hard work and understanding as we dealt with Storm Éowyn.
I hope you and your families stayed safe and suffered no serious damage to your homes or gardens.
After making the decision to close our schools, suspend our Waste Services and close our buildings during the storm, teams across the Council quickly and efficiently began to implement these operational changes ensuring our residents, service users and employees knew and understood the impact locally.
Whilst many of you were able to work from home, we of course have essential, frontline services that continued to be delivered on Friday.
Our Roads and Streetscene teams dealt with over 70 fallen trees across the area on Friday with our Customer Service and Emergency Response Centre agents handling calls throughout the day and night from the public.
Our Care at Home service also continued with home carers and other home visiting staff ensuring that our older and more vulnerable residents were looked after as usual.
Both our Property Maintenance and Facilities Management teams were also making visits and inspecting any reports relating to damages to our buildings and carrying out any essential repairs.
And as the elements continued to test us, the yellow weather warning for snow and ice for Saturday meant our gritting teams were out on Friday evening and in the early hours of the morning treating our primary routes.
This fantastic effort from you all meant we dealt with issues quickly and efficiently and from the reaction and comments so far, this was appreciated by our residents.
So, a huge thank you to you all. To those that worked from home to ensure the continued delivery of our services and to all our frontline teams who worked tirelessly in challenging conditions on Friday and are continuing to do so this week, to ensure the safety of everyone in East Dunbartonshire.
Thanks,
Ann
