Back

Dear all,

I’m sure everyone is like me and glad Spring has now arrived, bringing with it some much welcomed and needed sunshine.

Since my last update, just after our Budget had been passed, progress on a number of our agreed proposals has already begun, as many of you will be aware of and are working on. If you read the budget papers, you will know it’s gearing up to be a busy year as we look to maintain our essential service delivery while planning and implementing a number of projects – including infrastructure and digital – that will bring benefits to our residents and our workforce.

As I highlighted in my last update, if anyone has any concerns about any of our plans, particularly around workforce change, please do speak to your Line Manager, Executive Officer and/or HR Business Partner.

As always thank you for the fantastic work that you do. A special thanks also to those colleagues who will be delivering our essential services on the upcoming Bank Holiday.

I hope you all have a lovely Easter weekend.

Travelling Cabinet

On Monday 24 March, the 54th Travelling Cabinet took place at Kirkintilloch Town Hall. Before Cabinet met, each Cabinet Secretary, including the First Minister and Deputy First Minister, visited various projects and venues across the area including key Council projects; Woodhead Playpark, Lennoxtown Main Street and Campsie Memorial Hall, Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre, Climate Ready Park, Boclair Academy, A807 Travel Corridor and the housing development at the old Lairdsland Primary School.

These visits were very well received, and I would like to thank everyone who supported these as well as the Town Hall employees who helped with the event itself. I would also like to thank the ten pupils that attended the public discussion and who received particular praise from the Cabinet for their questions.

The recording of the public Q&A can be found on the Scottish Government’s YouTube channel.

Move to monthly pay

As you know our move to monthly pay will be implemented from 15 April which means different processing and deadline dates are now in place. Line Mangers should ensure they are aware of these to ensure any standby, expenses, overtime and temporary teaching hours are received on time. You can find these dates on the Employee Zone Employee & Payroll Services Processing Timetable & Deadlines webpage.

Financial Awareness Sessions

Following the success of these events last year, more Financial Awareness sessions have been arranged. Aimed at all employees, regardless of role or grade, the sessions will focus on providing valuable and helpful information to potentially assist with future financial decisions and money management. You can find out more on the Employee Zone, Financial Wellbeing section of the wellbeing webpage.

Monthly Wellbeing Focus

As usual, our Monthly Wellbeing Focus is updated each month with key campaigns and details of support all employees can access. You can find this information on the Employee Zone, Monthly Health and Wellbeing Focus section of the wellbeing webpage.

And Finally….

Congratulations to Lenzie Academy on their recent inspection report. The school was inspected in November 2024 by a team from Education Scotland who found that the ‘young people are highly motivated to learn and achieve, take responsibility for their own learning and attain well.’ You can read more in the news section of our website.

Thanks,

Ann
