The Administrative Scheme is approved at the first statutory meeting of each new Council (following Local Government Elections). Throughout the term of the Council this requires regular updating to reflect changes in the Council's decision making and organisational structures / strategic responsibilities. The Administrative Scheme of East Dunbartonshire Council is the rule book which governs how the Council works. The scheme covers:

Council Standing orders

Membership of decision making bodies

Powers of the Council/Committees

Delegated powers to officers

Financial regulations

Contract standing orders

Standing orders governing the lease or disposal of heritable property
