Community and commercial lets

The Council provides community and commercial lets at various venues within East Dunbartonshire.

School lets are available at 33 primary schools, eight secondary schools, two special needs schools and four community education centres throughout the Council area. Five public halls are also available for let as well as three enterprise centres.

School bookings:

The Council is committed to making schools available for community use from 6.30pm after the normal school day has finished. Individuals and groups can apply to use a space in most schools in East Dunbartonshire. Schools are normally available in the evenings and at weekends during the school letting period (August to the end of June).

Community education centre bookings:

There are four community education centres in East Dunbartonshire, in Auchinairn (Bishopbriggs), Craighead (Milton of Campsie), Hillhead (Kirkintilloch) and Milngavie. Lets are normally available from Monday to Friday 9am to 9.45pm but may vary depending on the centre with some offering weekend availability.

Before you make a provisional booking for a school or community centre let, please first refer to the letting policy which includes the child protection requirements for customers that run activities for children in schools, community centres, halls and other Council facilities.

Council hall bookings

In East Dunbartonshire, there are five Council halls (address details below). These facilities are available Monday to Saturday in the mornings, afternoons and evenings. There are occasional Sunday lets, which are of a religious nature.

Before you make a provisional booking for a council hall let, please first refer to the Hall Hire Conditions of Let.  For customers that run activities for children in halls, please also refer to the child protection requirements

Bookings system tutorial

Last year, there were almost 50,000 lets booked in these facilities. Our booking system enables you to make provisional bookings (or reservations) online, as well as by telephone (tel. 0300 123 4510) and face-to-face at our Community Hubs.
Below is a short and straightforward video tutorial showing you how to make a provisional booking. Once you have viewed the video and read the school and community centre letting guide, Hall Hire Conditions of Let and the Enterprise Centre Conditions of Let, access the online bookings system to make your provisional booking(s)

Useful information

  • A letting request should be made a minimum of one week prior to the date required.
  • Schools are encouraged to book known events at the start of the school year but certain school events take priority over other lets and whilst the letting office will endeavour to give you a week's notice, occasionally your let may be subject to cancellation at short notice.

All letting requests will be provisional until confirmed by the Council. Once you have completed your booking reservation, we will confirm it via email, typically within five working days. If your booking time is unavailable we will call or email you to agree alternative dates and locations. Invoices will be issued by email after your event(s) requesting payment.
