Local Outcome 3: Attainment levels show East Dunbartonshire pupils are prepared for life beyond school
Another strong performance from East Dunbartonshire pupils in the 2025 SQA exam diet has set them up for a positive destination once their school days are over.
These results build on the Council’s excellent education credentials and deliver on its commitment to ensure that ‘our children and young people are safe, healthy and ready to learn’.
Across all eight secondary schools*, a significant number of young people achieved passes at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher levels with many also chalking up successes in National Progression Awards and Foundation Apprenticeships.
For National 5s the pass rate (for A-C) was 82.6%, for Highers it was 81.8% and for Advanced Higher the figure was 77.5%. The National 5 and Higher results are an improvement on 2024 figures and Advanced Higher results are on a par with last year.
In S4, 83.3% of young people achieved 5 or more SCQF Level 5 Awards. In S5, 59.7% of young people achieved 5 or more SCQF Level 6 Awards. In S6, 45.8% of young people achieved one or more SCQF Level 7 Awards. All figures are based on S4 rolls.
Once again our senior pupils have done themselves, their families and their schools proud with this set of results. Their hard work has been rewarded and is testament to their commitment and to the support they have received from dedicated school staff.
Every pupil in every school in East Dunbartonshire is encouraged to find the path that is right for them and this year’s performance, at all levels, shows that there is something for everyone.
"By offering a broad and varied curriculum we aim to equip students with the practical skills and academic qualifications they need for their chosen career. East Dunbartonshire has the highest rate of pupils going onto positive destinations after school, whether that be apprenticeships, the workplace or higher education. There is no wrong path and once again we have seen the pupils in our schools grab the opportunities that are offered to them.”
* East Dunbartonshire’s secondary schools are: Bearsden Academy, Bishopbriggs Academy, Boclair Academy, Douglas Academy, Kirkintilloch High School, Lenzie Academy, St. Ninian’s High School and Turnbull High School.
