Twechar Pump Track Consultation
Have your say on wheely exciting plans for a new outdoor community Pump Track facility in Twechar.
A pump track is a purpose-built track for cycling. It has a circuit of ramps and turns designed to be ridden by riders "pumping" or generating momentum by body movements, instead of pedalling or pushing.
Pump tracks can be designed to suit both inexperienced riders as well as those with experience who can use BMX bikes, mountain bikes and scooters.
There are several successful pump tracks in Scotland, which are used as a base for a variety of activities including those for school groups and organised events as well as general community use. Involvement in pump track programmes has been proven to have benefits both socially and in support of positive mental and physical therapy.
The response to last year’s community consultation delivered by Green Action Trust (GAT) was overwhelmingly positive in favour of the creation of a pump track facility in the vicinity of the Twechar Healthy Living & Enterprise Centre.
We took on-board the feedback you gave us and the Council is now looking for your help to decide on the winning design.
To ensure we are offering the highest standard of quality and choice to the community, we are presenting a variety of design options to residents.
Each of the choices are designed to be challenging and exciting and will cater to all skill levels.
Design proposals were invited - and submitted - on a fixed budget basis.
A drop-in event has been organised at Twechar Healthy Living & Enterprise Centre, St John’s Way, Main Street, G65 9TA to give residents an opportunity to view the designs and vote for their favourite.
We want as many people as possible to take part and have their say on what’s eventually constructed.
The event details are:
Wednesday 21 January 2026, 10am-7.30pm
Children who attend Twechar Primary School will also get a chance to have their say at a special voting event in the school on Tuesday 20 Januuary. We would love our local children to have their say, so please get your child involved and encourage them to add their thoughts.
The design that has collected the most votes at the expiry of the deadline date will be the one that is installed.
