Background to Consultation

Draft Parking Management Plan

This dedicated Draft Parking Management Plan has been prepared in response to concerns about parking raised through previous consultations on the Local Transport Strategy 2020-2025.

What does the Draft Parking Management Plan explain?

It explains the Council’s current approach to parking management and enforcement and a summary of the roles and responsibilities of groups involved. A range of legislation controls how parking is managed and the Council has an established approach to parking in town centres and communities. The Council has brought this information together to set out a coordinated, operational plan for parking.  It is intended that having all this information in one place will make it easier for residents and businesses to understand how and why parking is managed in East Dunbartonshire.

What is the Draft Parking Management Plan consulting on?

One area of parking where existing management requires further consideration is around schools. The Draft Parking Management Plan is therefore consulting on proposed policies and supporting actions for schools that intend to improve safety and encourage active travel to and from school.

The consultation is also seeking views on travel behaviours related to rail travel and parking in and around station car parks to help the Council understand the likely effects of the pandemic on travel demand in these areas in the short and long term.

The consultation will run from 5 October 2021 until 30 November 2021.
