Technical Notes 2026, Issue 95 - EDLCT – Culture, Leisure and Sport Strategy 2026-2031
Details
The purpose of this Technical Note is to provide an update on the development and launch of the EDLCT Culture, Leisure and Sport Strategy 2026-2031.
Background
- In October 2024 EDLCT began an extensive engagement and consultation with staff, partners, national organisations and the general public (including a survey design specifically for children & young people), with a view to developing a new EDLCT Culture, Leisure & Sport Strategy
- Respondents were asked to comment on a draft vision, mission statement and key priorities. Over 1,000 surveys were completed, with 95% of respondents agreeing with the vision and mission statement and 62% agreeing with all ten key priorities
- The Council’s Corporate Communications team then designed a document for publication, using StoryMap, a piece of software which allows the strategy to be embedded into the EDLCT website making the strategy fully accessible and allows for new content to be added as required
- Following a presentation to the EDLCT Board on Wednesday 24 June 2026, the EDLCT Culture, Leisure & Sport Strategy was approved and the strategy will now be launched
- The strategic objectives and priority areas are aligned through the Trust’s BIP and will be monitored and reported on through HGIOS and Board Reports.
