This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared out with the Council.

  • The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Elected Members on the progress of planning application submissions for the proposals at Whitegates Park for the new Lenzie Academy and at the existing Myrtle Avenue site
  • The Stage 1 report for the project, approved in December 2025, noted that two separate planning applications will be submitted for each aspect of the project which were anticipated late 2025 / early 2026
  • The application for the development of a new secondary school at Whitegates Park is progressing well and planned for submission by before the end of February 2026
  • A separate planning application will be submitted for proposals at Myrtle Avenue, as approved by Council in June 2025 and comprising the redevelopment of the school site as a public open space with refurbished indoor sports accommodation.  Due to the size of the site at Myrtle Avenue, this application meets the threshold of a Major planning application and as such, requires a period of pre-application consultation prior to submission
  • This pre-application period will take place between February and April 2026 and be focussed around two pre-application consultation events to be held on Thursday 26 February and Wednesday 25 March 2026. Details of each will be confirmed in early course via the Council’s social media channels, project website and shared with community councils
  • Following the pre-application consultation period, the planning application for Myrtle Avenue will then be submitted before the end of April 2026.
