This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared out with the Council.
The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Elected Members on work associated with the Westerhill Development Road (WDR). The WDR, along with the Bishopbriggs Town Centre Civic Space project, forms part of the Council’s City Deal Programme
On 18 December 2025 the Council approved report EDC/055/25/DG and draft Full Business Case (FBC) for construction of the WDR, which involves a new road from Lochgrog Roundabout to Bishopbriggs Golf Range, in addition to an upgraded Torrance Roundabout. The FBC was subsequently approved by Glasgow City Region in February 2026
The Council has since finalised the land arrangements required for construction of the WDR and contractor Balfour Beatty have been appointed to undertake the works
Site-based activities are expected to start mid-May 2026. Initial works will consist of ecology surveys, site clearance, utility diversions and construction of a temporary car park for the Loretto Playing fields
Temporary Traffic management will be in place at various locations throughout the construction period, with a specific plan of the intended dates of the disruption forming part of a separate Technical Note for Elected Members
Construction of the WDR is currently programmed to complete in October 2027.
