This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Member. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.
The purpose of this Technical Note is to inform Elected members of the exceptional school closure dates to facilitate the move of Milngavie Primary School from the temporary locations of St Nicholas Primary School and Torrance Primary School prior to the start of the new academic session
It has been standard practice across Scotland for Councils to seek approval from the Scottish Ministers to close schools early to facilitate the transfer of resources and associated equipment to new school facilities or refurbished schools
Permission has been requested and granted from Scottish Government Ministers to close Milngavie Primary School (whilst residing at St Nicholas’ and Torrance Primary Schools) for one day at the end of this session 2026 and then for Milngavie Primary School to have an additional in-service day at the start of term in August 2026
Letters will be issued to staff and parents of Milngavie Primary School to inform them of the exceptional closure dates as follows:
Wednesday 24 June 2026 from 1pm
Thursday 25 June 2026 9am until 1pm (last day of school term)
