  • The purpose of this Technical Note is to advise Elected Members of the events and opportunities available for women and families as part of our programme of ‘Celebrating International Women’s Day 2026.'
  • International Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the achievements of women and girls, while recognising the ongoing work needed to achieve equality and women’s rights.
  • Women living in East Dunbartonshire are warmly invited to attend a series of events celebrating connection, learning and wellbeing.
    • Tuesday 3 March, 10.00am to 3.00pm
      The Wellness Kitchen, Hillhead Community Centre, 
      169 Meiklehill Road, Kirkintilloch, G66 2JT. Join local women in a relaxed and friendly environment to learn how to prepare a variety of international dishes, share cultures and build new connection. 
    • Friday 6 March, 10.30am to 3.30pm. The Hive, Unit 10, Station Road, Lennoxtown, G66 7LL. Come along to make new friends, try arts and craft activities, and take part in an open discussion about women’s safety and the issues women face in their communities.
    • Friday 6 March 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Auchinairn Community and Early Learning Centre, Auchinairn Place, Beech Road, G64 1NE. This interactive session includes an introduction to brain health and with practical advice, a virtual reality experience exploring how dementia can affect a person’s perception of reality and a discussion on the unique ways we can support women’s brain health.
