Details
The purpose of this Technical Note is to advise Elected Members of a further round of ground investigation surveys planned at Whitegates Park which will help inform the next stage of the design development process for the new Lenzie Academy project
The survey will consist of 36nr hand dug pits no deeper than 0.3m and 14nr window sample boreholes no deeper than 3 metres. The purpose of the survey is to determine the waste classification of materials which will eventually be removed from site during the construction phase of the project
During this period, pump testing will also be undertaken to further understand the groundwater within the subsoil. The 6nr existing ground water monitoring wells will be used and where this is not possible further boreholes will be required. All areas will be fully restored after sampling. The pump testing is being completed to establish how quickly groundwater infiltrates into excavations. This will then inform the appropriate site dewatering and ground water management plan for the construction phase of the project
Survey areas will be required to be fenced off for duration of the works. Each borehole and pump will be sectioned off by fencing and will be removed upon completion of each dig and reinstatement. All areas will be reinstated upon completion of each borehole/trial pit or gas monitoring dig with existing turf
The window sample borehole survey will commence on Monday 23 February and conclude on Friday 27 February
The groundwater pump testing will also commence on Monday 23rd February and will conclude on Friday 27 February, water tanks will then be fenced off and left in-situ on site to be monitored until 23 March
Notice of the surveys will be communicated via the project website and through the Council’s social media channels. The attached site plan shows the various survey locations on the site.
