The Technical Note is to inform Elected Members that Douglas Academy, Milngavie have suffered a loss of water supply this morning
Scottish Water have confirmed a burst water pipe / water main in the area (Falloch Road, Milngavie), which has resulted in a loss of all water to both the school and surrounding properties. Notification at 9.25am on the Scottish Water website confirmed that a fault was located but repair is still to commence. This is still the case at 12noon. This has also been confirmed verbally with Scottish Water and no time frame for repair has been communicated
Due to lack water in the school, a decision was made by the Chief Education Officer to close the school at 12.30pm today
Parents/carers are currently being contacted to collect their children from the school. Transport providers are also being contacted
The school is expected to reopen on Friday, 13th February 2026 as normal, unless Scottish Water advise repair will not be completed in time. If school is not able to open, communication will be sent to all parents/carers and transport providers.
