This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared with the Council.
The purpose of the Technical Note is to advise, and update Elected Members of the 2026/27 and 2027/28 close painting programme for wholly owned Council house closes
The attached tables outline the close painting work completed to date as well as providing an update on when the remaining work is programmed to be undertaken. Estimated completion dates may be subject to change; however, any delayed works will remain part of the programme and will be rescheduled for completion
Table 5 highlights which locations have tested positive for a higher level of lead presence in the existing paint. This work will be undertaken solely by specialist external contractors to ensure compliance with the associated regulations. This work is currently programmed to commence in November 2027, however, should the procurement exercise conclude earlier than planned this work will commence earlier than the dates noted below
The Service will provide progress updates to Elected Members as and when there are any substantive changes to the programme, including details of any changes to estimated completion dates. Members should note that all affected tenants have been informed of the dates within the programme and will be kept informed if there are any changes to the dates therein
Members should note that the current programme relates only to closes within 100% ownership of the Council. Officers continue to gather data for all remaining mixed tenure closes and will confirm options for progression of close painting to those properties in due course.
