The purpose of this technical note is to advise Elected Members of the draft Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Partnership Strategy 2026-2029
VAWGP operates as a sub-group within the Community Planning Partnership, Local Outcome 4 Community Safety Partnership
At a recent meeting of the Community Planning Executive Group, partner organisations were presented with the draft Strategy and agreed collectively to move forward with the consultation
The preferred approach is a targeted consultation to receive the most tangible responses to the online survey, which will run for 12 weeks from w/c 12 October 2026 until 4 January 2027.
The safety of women and girls across East Dunbartonshire is a priority. VAWG is an unacceptable and preventable issue, and partners across East Dunbartonshire are committed to preventing and eradicating this gender-based violence and addressing the underlying attitudes and systems that perpetuate it
The draft three-year strategy has been developed to drive local activity, with this collaborative approach being vital to raise awareness and tackle this issue
The draft strategy aligns with The Scottish Government’s and COSLA’s Equally Safe Strategy which is the national strategy to address all forms of violence against women and girls, specifically violence, abuse and exploitation directed at them because of their gender
