  • The purpose of this Technical Note is to advise Elected Members on planned drainage surveys around the Larkfield Road area of Lenzie and additional soil sampling at Whitegates Park
  • Recent CCTV surveys of the surface water drainage infrastructure around the Whitegates Park site have been unable to successfully determine the condition and route of the culvert which serves the site
  • Further drainage investigation works to obtain a better understanding of the line, route and condition of the existing drainage system, including the local culvert are now planned to ensure the flow is currently operating as we would expect and to minimise any future flood risks in this area
  • Council officers and a third-party drainage contractor will be undertaking a site visit in the area during w/c 10 August with the aim of accessing manholes within the gardens on Larkfield Road, adjacent to Whitegates Park, and undertaking an inspection along the line of the culvert system
  •  A letter has been issued to residents this week and residents will be contacted individually next week to seek their permission for the survey to take place
  • In addition, further soil sampling will be undertaken at Whitegates Park. The survey will consist of two engineers, using a probe, auger and hand digging with a shovel. The engineers will take samples at 10m intervals. No heavy machinery will be used, and the work will cause minimal disruption. All areas will be fully restored after sampling
  • There will be no requirement for any areas to be fenced off as the area of the surveys are largely inaccessible to members of the public due to being overgrown.
