Technical Notes 2026, Issue 102 - Westerton Primary School
The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Elected Members on the anticipated survey works for the Westerton Primary School Project.
Following Council approval on 5 March 2026 of the 10-year Capital Investment Plan (Report EDC/001/26/AD), which allocated £3 million to complete pre-construction activities for the proposed new Westerton Primary School, Officers have identified an opportunity to undertake site surveys within the school grounds during the summer break.
Surveys will provide essential information to inform the design of the new school, improve understanding of existing site constraints, and support the progression of the project through the pre-construction design phase.
All survey works will be complete by Friday 7th August 2026, prior to children and education staff returning for the start of the new academic year. The list of survey activities is as follows:
- Ground Radar and Topographical Survey
- Building Flow and Pressure Test
- CCTV Drainage Investigations
- Ground Investigations and Soil Resistivity Testing
- Ecological and Tree Surveys
Initial stakeholder engagement has been undertaken with Education and the Head Teacher in advance of the school holiday period and Facilities Management (FM). Coordination will take place between with the Main Contractor, EDC Capital Projects, FM and the relevant summer lettings as surveys progress.
Members should note, regular updates on the project, including any changes to the anticipated project programme, will be communicated via the General Fund Capital monitoring report submitted to the Policy & Resources Committee.
