Technical Notes 2025, Issue 79 - Whitegates Park – Further Ground Investigation Surveys
Details
- The purpose of this Technical Note is to advise Members of further ground investigation surveys at Whitegates Park which will help inform the next stage of the design development process for the new Lenzie Academy project.
- The surveys will consist of an additional 10 sample boreholes and installation of monitoring wells. The attached site plan shows the proposed locations of additional sample areas, marked in pink, as well as identifying previous areas of survey.
- Additional soil samples will be taken from the surveys which will then be sent to a laboratory to understand and confirm the make-up of the ground and will also confirm any ground contaminants. The survey results will clarify and further inform the previous round of site investigation undertaken earlier in the year.
- As the surveys proposed to be carried out are intrusive in nature, areas will be required to be fenced off for duration of the works. Each borehole/trial pit will be sectioned off by fencing and will be removed upon completion of each dig and reinstatement, therefore leaving the majority of the park open to local residents during the works. All areas will be reinstated upon completion of each borehole/trial pit or gas monitoring dig with existing turf.
- The surveys will commence on Thursday, 1st May and will last for approximately one week.
- Advance notice of the survey will be communicated via the project website and through the Council’s social media channels.
