This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.
The purpose of this technical note is to advise Elected Members on the National Pay Bargaining Offer for employees covered by the Local Government Workers bargaining group and formal notification to Ballot for Industrial Action.
COSLA's offer to Scottish Joint Council (SJC) Trade Unions made on 17 February was a uniform 3% increase in pay at all pay points. This offer was rejected by the Trade Unions, Unison, GMB and Unite the Union.
Each of the three Trade Unions, have held consultative ballots with its members, to which their members have responded in favour of undertaking industrial action.
Unison has submitted notification to Ballot for Industrial Action of all its members in the Council.
Concurrent to this, Unison have also submitted notification to Ballot for Industrial Action of all its members in the East Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust.
It is important to note that this is a national pay dispute and not targeted at East Dunbartonshire Council or the Leisure Trust.
Timescales for each of these Unison ballots are due to close on 12 June 2025, and the Council will be advised of the outcome shortly afterwards.
At the point of preparing this Technical Note, notification to Ballot for Industrial Action, had not been received from Unite the Union or GMB.
Officers will provide further updates as information becomes available on the outcome of the respective ballots.
