This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.
The purpose of this technical note is to inform Members of the exceptional school closure day to facilitate the forthcoming by-election for Ward 3, Bearsden South - for Bearsden Primary School and Colquhoun Park Primary School.
Permission has been requested and granted by Scottish Government Ministers to close both schools on Thursday, 29 January 2026 to allow for each school to be used a Polling Stations.
Learning will be provided for pupils of both schools to complete during this exceptional school closure day.
Pupils who are in receipt of Free School Meals will be in receipt of funding for this day.
For employees who are based within either school, this day will be treated as an in-service day. They will still have access to the building and will have a separate location to the area for the polling station.
Letters will be issued to staff and parents of both schools to inform them of the exceptional closure date.
