Council By-Election Ward 3 Bearsden South Key Dates (4)

  • Responsible Officer:

  • Publication:

This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.

Details:

  • This is the latest in a series of Technical Notes to update Members on arrangements for the by-election in Ward 3 – Bearsden South.
  • Members will be aware that the By-election is scheduled to take place on Thursday 29th January 2026.
  • Further dates have been confirmed as arrangements proceed.  As previously indicated, there are numerous key dates which will be of interest to Members.
  • The Appendix to this Technical Note sets out and updated version of the key dates and deadlines between now and polling day.  Some dates or times have still to be determined e.g. postal vote opening session at the count venue on the day of the Poll.  The timeline will be updated as arrangements are made, and Members will be updated accordingly.
  • Members will be aware that the previous timeline indicated that the count would take place at the Allander Sports Centre.  However, following a site visit, it is clear that the logistics of setting up and breaking down a one-ward count are better suited to Kilmardinny House, both in terms of scale and levels of disruption.  Accordingly, the election count will take place at Kilmardinny House.
  • If any Member has any questions regarding the By-election, please contact Karen Donnelly or Lesley McKenzie in the first instance.
