This is the second in a series of Technical Notes to update Members on arrangements for a By-election, which is required to fill the vacancy in Ward 3 – Bearsden South
Members will be aware that the By-election will take place on Thursday 29 January 2026. The timelines for the By-election are tight, not least due to the impending Christmas holidays, and there are numerous key dates which will be of interest to Members. A detailed timeline will be issued in the next day or so and thereafter, updated timelines will be issued as dates are confirmed
A key date in the planning process is the Prospective Candidates Briefing which is scheduled for 4.30pm on Tuesday 2 December 2025. The purpose of the Briefing is to give prospective candidates an indication of what to expect over the next few weeks and what is required in terms of the nomination process. It will also give an idea of the level of commitment in the event that they are successful in seeking election
The Briefing session is online. Anyone wishing to attend should contact Lesley McKenzie to receive the link for the meeting.
