Technical Notes 2025, Issue 200 - Removal of Recycling Bring Sites
- The purpose of this Technical Note is to provide Elected Members with notification of the removal of recycling bring sites at Co-Op Lennoxtown and at the new Sainsburys, Baljaffray, Bearsden
- The Waste Service have been asked by the owners of the property at Co-Op Lennoxtown and Sainsburys Baljaffray Bearsden to remove the bring sites due to continued abuse of the sites with fly tipping of general waste
- Many bring sites have become hotspots for fly-tipping with large quantities of non-recyclable and commercial waste being dumped beside containers. This is has led the property owners to make this request
- The persistent fly tipping is a significant cost for Roads & Neighbourhood Services through providing staff resources and in addition the increasing waste disposal costs associated
- Textile recycling facilities will remain at Co-Op in an agreement between Co-Op and Salvation Army
- Bring sites were introduced before the expansion of the now comprehensive kerbside recycling collections in East Dunbartonshire in 2005. All waste streams being removed from these facilities are available from the kerbside
- The bins at the recycling sites are currently provided and serviced by Biffa and bins will be removed week commencing 17 November 2025
- The Service have considered alternative sites, however, have found no site that safely allows for operational accessibility
- Sites will remain at this time in the following locations
