This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.
The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members on the progress on the Letting Policy Review. This was requested at the meeting of the Council’s Audit & Risk Management Committee on the 18 September.
Members will be aware that a public consultation ran from the from 17 March to 18 April this year. This consultation sought to gage opinion on future policy development.
The end of the consultation process was aligned to the start of the Annual Letting process with resources in the team then prioritised accordingly. This sought to ensure that customers would have their annual lets in place for the start of the academic year.
In the period since the Council has commissioned a new system to replace the current letting management system, to enable improved functionality and customer experience. Work on this has accelerated over the summer and will continue until the end of the calendar year.
These overlapping requirements have been challenging to accommodate however the work is progressing well with an updated policy being developed to incorporating the results of the survey that makes best use of new system functionality.
Officers are working to complete the review of the policy by the end of the calendar year and bring the policy forward for approval at which point Members will have the option to refer this to a meeting of the Scrutiny Panel as previously suggested.
