The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members in relation to the Council’s 2026/2027 Budget Consultation
The consultation exercise will provide information on the Council’s Budget position while asking residents to complete a survey seeking views on priorities to balance the budget for 2026/2027
The Budget consultation will be hosted on the Council website and background information will include where the Council’s budget comes from, the breakdown of spend, the difference between capital and revenue and challenges facing local government finances
The survey that residents will be asked to complete focuses on the current priorities in line with the SPPF Forward in Partnership commitment under the four priorities of Health & Wellbeing, Access to Services, Finance & Employment and Community & Environment. We will also be asking their opinions on how we set Fees and Charges and how we might increase income and make savings
The consultation will run from Monday 27 October to Sunday 23 November
A range of materials and various communication methods, both offline and online, will be used to encourage residents to complete the survey
Communication methods will include a social media plan, media releases, a content pack for stakeholders and partners, posters in key venues and internal messages.
