- The purpose of this technical note is to advise Elected Members of the first East Dunbartonshire Gaelic Day, in partnership with Bishopbriggs Gaelic Club.
- This local event supports the work of the East Dunbartonshire Gaelic Language Plan 2024-29, and will offer opportunity for adults (18 years and over) to explore, learn and enjoy the Gaelic language together. The event will be held on Saturday 27 September at Woodhill Evangelical Church, Bishopbriggs from 9.30am till 3pm.
- Included in this new event will be;
- adult Classes for recent beginners, intermediate and advanced learners
- a relaxed and supportive atmosphere to practice Gaelic
- opportunities to meet others with the same interest in the Gaelic language.
- There is a cost of £15 for residents and £20 for non-residents. Priority will be given to East Dunbartonshire residents.
- The expected outcomes for hosting the Gaelic Day include;
- increasing awareness and visibility of the Gaelic language in East Dunbartonshire
- encouraging adults at different levels of learning to engage with Gaelic through accessible classes
- supporting learner progression
- building connections with Bishopbriggs Gaelic Club and supporting sustainable thriving community organisations
- greater awareness of the Gaelic Language Plan and more support for it in the future
