This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.

Details:

  • The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members in relation to the expected inclement weather at the start of next week
  • The Met Office has issued a Yellow Weather warning for Scotland and the north of England between 6am on 4 August to 6am on 5 August. This is in relation to Storm Floris
  • The weather warning is for unseasonably strong and potentially disruptive wind, which may result in some damage to buildings etc. Current warning status
  • A meeting of the Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire Local Resilience Partnership (LRP) took place at lunch time.  Whilst the warning is currently yellow, a lot can change in the space of 48 hours and so the weather and any updated warnings will be monitored over the course of the weekend, with the LRP ready to meet again on Sunday if necessary
  • Officers in key services are aware of the weather warning and will be updated in the event of any changes over the course of the weekend. In addition, the Council’s social media channels will share updates from the Met Office as they relate to East Dunbartonshire
  • A further Technical Note will be issued over the weekend should there be a worsening of the forecast for East Dunbartonshire.
