The HSCP has leased and began to commission two retail units in the Bishopbriggs/Auchinairn locality, at the Triangle Shopping Centre in Bishopbriggs
The completion of this project will deliver 4 high level treatment rooms in the heart of Bishopbriggs providing clinical accommodation for the Community Treatment and Care Service (CTAC) which will operate Monday to Friday
The CTAC service delivers a wide range of services including phlebotomy (taking of blood samples), injections, dressings and wound management, suture and staple removal, and general checks (pulse/blood pressure/temperature)
The CTAC service is currently operating from local GP premises in this locality who are experiencing accommodation pressures. The use of space in the GP Practices has been essential to deliver on the commitments of the 2018 GP contract but cannot be sustained going forward. The availability of the 4 new Treatment Rooms in the Bishopbriggs CTAC centre will help, in part, to relieve some of this pressure
There is scope for other community health and care services to use the premise, in the evenings and at weekends, to ensure the potential of this asset is maximised. Any proposed additional use would be subject to IJB approval
This development was approved by the NHSGGC Capital Planning Group and NHSGGC Corporate Management Team in early December 2024
The post tender costs were finalised and capital funding of £1.2m was allocated by NHSGCC spread over 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 financial years, to supplement HSCP accommodation reserves
The lease terms are 10 years with a break at 5 years. There is an option to extend at 10 years with a further 5 years lease. The lease has been finalised, and the date of entry was 11 February 2025
The construction work to the adjoining retail units commenced on 5 March 2025 working to a 20-week construction programme. The project should complete mid-July 2025, and it is anticipated that following the required commissioning and handover period, will be operational by mid-September 2025.
