It was a weekend of family fun across East Dunbartonshire with Kirkintilloch Gala Day and the Bearsden & Milngavie Highland Games taking place today.

Depute Provost Colette McDiarmid was able to spend some time at both events and meet local families dodging the summer showers at Woodhead Park in Kirkintilloch and at the West of Scotland Football Club in Milngavie.

She spent time at stalls, speaking to local businesses and getting involved in some of the activities on offer.

She said, “I was lucky to be able to get to the Gala Day and the Games and soak up the atmosphere. Both events were well attended with so much choice for families. Congratulations to the organisers for doing such a brilliant job and bringing communities together. I hope everyone had as good a time as I did.”
