When they met at Possil Senior Secondary School in 1951, Patsy and George Morris couldn’t have imagined that they’d be celebrating their Platinum Wedding Anniversary all these years later.

There was a definite spark between the soon-to-be electrician and shorthand typist as they were married four years later in Possilpark Parish Church. A reception in The Georgic in Glasgow was followed by a fun-filled honeymoon at Butlins then a lifetime of ‘love and being there for each other’, according to Patsy.

The couple that grew up together were surrounded by family and friends as they celebrated their Platinum Wedding Anniversary and received special gifts from Provost Gillian Renwick and Deputy Lieutenant Maureen Cummings.

George, a life-long Partick Thistle supporter, is now part of a team at Firhill working on memorabilia while Patsy enjoys reading, gardening and socialising with friends.

They said, “It’s been a wonderful life. When you marry young you can’t possibly imagine a future like we’ve had. We’ve enjoyed travelling and still travel to visit our son and are so fortunate to have family locally with frequent visits from our grandchildren and great grandchildren.”
