Help to shape services, facilities and activities delivered by East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust (EDLCT).

EDLCT – a registered charity – is developing a new Culture, Leisure and Sport Strategy, with consultation taking place between 5 May and 29 June 2025.

Service users, residents and stakeholders are being encouraged to fill in a survey before 29 June 2025

The Trust delivers a wide range of services and operates facilities including Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre, the Leisuredrome in Bishopbriggs, the Allander Leisure Centre in Bearsden, pavilions, eight libraries, the Auld Kirk Museum in Kirkintilloch, the Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie, Kirkintilloch Town Hall and Kilmardinny House in Bearsden.

A vision, mission statement and 11 priorities for the next five years have been developed for the new strategy through consultation with employees.

Public engagement events will take place in EDLCT venues, with employees available to help people access the survey online or to complete it on their behalf.

Survey results will help to shape the final strategy, with the aim to have it in place by this autumn, following a report to the EDLCT Board.

Specific consultation will also take place with key partners and national organisations, such as the Council, Museums Galleries Scotland, the Scottish Library and Information Council and sportscotland.

EDLCT was established in 2010, to deliver cultural, leisure and sport services on behalf of East Dunbartonshire Council.

Proposed vision:

The lives of East Dunbartonshire communities will be enriched by the provision of inclusive, accessible and affordable opportunities in arts, heritage, libraries, leisure and sport.

Proposed mission statement:

We will work with people in our communities to ensure access to relevant and sustainable services, which will support the health, wellbeing and quality of life of all those living in, working in or visiting East Dunbartonshire.

Proposed priorities:

We will ensure our customers are at the centre of everything we do.

We will ensure our staff are supported to develop within their roles and are given the opportunity to enhance skills and experience in order to provide the best service possible and progress in their chosen career, should they wish to do so

We will ensure effective and efficient management of resources and staff through continually reviewing processes and procedures to maximise the impact of what we do, minimising barriers to our users/customers.

We will use the full range of methods available to us to ensure timely, relevant and effective information sharing.

We will actively engage with, encourage and welcome people from all backgrounds to participate in, and benefit from, our services and will work to provide those services at a time and place which suits their needs.

We will work with staff, partners and third parties to ensure we are environmentally responsible and that our assets are maintained and developed, making them fit for current and future use.

We will continue to develop existing, and nurture new, partnerships which provide mutual benefit and contribute to making East Dunbartonshire a safe and welcoming place to live, work and visit.

We will support our communities, through our expertise and knowledge, to enable them to develop and contribute to the overall leisure and culture offer across East Dunbartonshire.

We will explore, develop and deliver new business opportunities; based on partner, stakeholder and customer consultation, and in response to local and national trends and priorities.

We will use new and emerging technologies to improve service delivery and customer experience.

We will use a range of tools and methods to better understand our users/customers and potential users/customers, and will use this data to ensure our services remain relevant and fit for the future.
