Details:
  1. Council report PNCA/038/22/CM noted ongoing work at the Glasgow City Region level to support electric vehicle charging infrastructure expansion (paragraphs 3.16 – 3.18).  This work has recently progressed significantly with:
  • The awarding of funding by the Scottish Government to the Glasgow City Region, via the eight constituent authorities, to produce an electric vehicle strategy. This will include an overarching strategy for the Glasgow City Region.
  • The appointment by Glasgow City Region of consultants Mott MacDonald to lead the work on these regional and individual authority electric vehicle strategies.
  1. This work will allow the Council to update its own Electric Vehicle Action Plan which can be found on the Electric-vehicle-charging-points webpage.  Please note that this webpage is currently being updated in line with Technical Note 187.

  2. In order to deliver the regional/local strategies, a working group has been established with representatives from all council areas and a number of recommendations have been agreed by the Glasgow City Region Chief Executives’ Group, including a public survey across each of the Council areas to gauge needs.

  3. The survey went live on Monday 5th December 2022 and closes at 23:45 on Saturday 31st December 2022.  East Dunbartonshire’s survey can be found on the East Dunbartonshire Electric Vehicle Charging Strategy & Expansion Plan User Survey:

  4. Anyone in the East Dunbartonshire Council area (general public/residents and businesses) who use an electric vehicle, who intends to get an electric vehicle or is interested in influencing charge point locations should participate in the survey.

  5. The survey is being publicised by Corporate Communications and through the Local Development Plan newsletter.  Councillors may wish to provide information and the survey link to their constituents.
