Details:
- The purpose of this technical note is to advise members of a technical update to the Air Quality Planning Guidance document.
- To assist the determination of planning applications the Air Quality Planning Guidance sets out:
- The national and local context for managing impacts on air quality management through the planning system
- Air quality monitoring arrangements in East Dunbartonshire
- When an air quality assessment should be undertaken
- Required content of air quality assessments
- Weight given to air quality as a material planning consideration
- Suitability of mitigation measures
- Information on designated Air Quality Management Areas (AQMA’s) in East Dunbartonshire
- As advised in Technical Note 127 on 23 Aug 2022, the Bearsden Air Quality Management Area Order was revoked on 01 Sep 2022 following sustained improvements in air quality within the designated area. As a result the Bishopbriggs AQMA remains as the only extant management area in East Dunbartonshire.
- The Air Quality Planning Guidance has subsequently been updated to reflect this change in status at Bearsden. This is considered to be technical amendment which does not impact upon the approach in the guidance. The Guidance can be found on the Planing Guidance page of the website.
