Support to Reduce Costs

Businesses are being offered support to help cope with rising costs.

  • The UK Government has announced measures to help businesses through the energy crisis - including an Energy Bill Relief Scheme to provide a discount on wholesale gas and electricity prices for all non-domestic customers whose current gas and electricity prices have risen significantly due to global energy prices. That includes all UK businesses, the voluntary sector (such as charities) and the public sector (such as schools and hospitals).

  • The Circular Economy Investment Fund, administered by Zero Waste Scotland, offers investment for SMEs based in Scotland and supports work that will deliver circular economy growth. £18 million is available as grant funding to small and medium-sized enterprises that are helping to create a more circular economy.   • The Green Heat Innovation Support Programme provides grants to Scottish-based companies or companies looking to invest to help develop new products, services or business models related to green heating solutions.   • Business in the Community and Be the Business are hosting a series of free workshops which offer climate action advice and training for small and medium-sized business owners in Scotland. You can learn how to develop a climate action plan for your business, measure your carbon footprint and reduce your emissions. Workshops will be held in January and February 2023.   • The Supplier Development Programme offers training and events related to public sector procurement that Scottish businesses can access for free.
