People and businesses are being invited to give their views on a new draft Licensing Policy Statement for the area.
East Dunbartonshire Licensing Board (EDLB) is required to publish a statement 18 months after an ordinary election of councillors on how it aims to promote the five objectives contained within the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.
These are:
- Preventing crime and disorder
- Securing public safety
- Preventing public nuisance
- Protecting and improving public health
- Protecting children and young people from harm.
EDLB's new draft Licensing Policy Statement covers a range of matters – including extended weekend opening hours for certain premises, outdoor drinking areas and over-provision.
The draft statement – which is being issued to a range of consultees – is available at libraries and via the Council website – www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk/consultation-licensing-policy-statement-east-dunbartonshire
The closing date for comments is 30 November 2018.
Please note, in accordance with Scottish Government guidance, any consultation responses regarding over-provision of licensed premises must contain robust and reliable evidence which suggests that a saturation point has been, or is close to being, reached.
Convener of East Dunbartonshire Licensing Board, Councillor Jim Gibbons, said, "It is vital that we hear from as many people as possible on this important document – which sets out how the board will promote key objectives contained within the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.
"All comments received will be considered by members of the board before a decision is made on the final policy statement."
