Nominations are being sought for the Council’s 2017 STARs Awards (Special Thanks and Recognition scheme for employees).

Once again there are again two categories for the public to nominate a Council employee or team for demonstrating that they go the extra mile.

Depute Chief Executive for Education People & Business, Ann Davie firmly believes in recognising employee excellence.  She said, "All our employees do a great job and our STARs Awards have been designed to recognise outstanding contributions and to celebrate employee success.  The Council has faced a challenging financial climate and continuous transformation agenda for many years and it is ever more important to formally recognise those that go the extra mile in their role."

Two of the five STARs categories are open to nominations from the public:

  • Employee Award - Going the extra mile – internally nominated
  • Employee Award - Going the extra mile – externally nominated
  • Young Employee of the Year – internally nominated
  • Team Award – Going the extra mile – internally nominated
  • Team Award – Going the extra mile – externally nominated

Nominations are being sought by Friday 26 May and the short-leet will be announced in early June. Those short-leeted in each category, along with those that nominated them, will be invited to the STARs Award 2017 celebration in the new Bearsden Hall on Wednesday 28 June where the winners will be announced.

Full details of the criteria and the nomination form can be found on the Council website. An information leaflet and the nomination form will also be available from the Community Hubs in Bearsden, Bishopbriggs (Bishopbriggs Library), Kirkintilloch and Lennoxtown and from the Council HQ at Southbank Marina.

Mrs Davie continued, “We want to hear from all of you who feel you have received excellent service, that goes above and beyond, from a Council employee or Council team that deserve this recognition. You can complete the online nomination form or pick up a paper copy and tell us exactly why your nominee should receive an Award.”

“The judging panel is looking forward to receiving nominations, and we will announce our short-leet in early June.”

The closing date for nominations is 12 noon on Friday 26 May and nominations can be submitted online or by post as follows:
