instagram logoThe Provost of East Dunbartonshire, Gillian Renwick, has launched the Civic Office Instagram account to allow residents of East Dunbartonshire to follow her and Depute Provost Colette McDiarmid as they carry out their civic duties.

As part of their roles, Provost Renwick and Depute Provost McDiarmid meet dignitaries and visitors to the area, host civic receptions and events and visit residents of East Dunbartonshire celebrating 100th birthdays and Golden and Diamond Wedding Anniversaries.

Provost Renwick said, “The role of Provost is a fantastic honour and both myself and the Depute Provost get to meet people within our communities who have achieved great things.  I hope that by posting these visits and celebrations on Instagram everyone living or working in East Dunbartonshire can share in these memorable occasions.  The platform will also provide an opportunity for residents to find out about the various organisations and groups that are involved in our local communities and we plan to highlight the Civic Office’s fundraising activities - encouraging residents to get involved too!”

Provost Renwick continued, “Today, along with the Lord Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire, Mrs Jill Young, I met with army veteran Robert Campbell MBE to congratulate him on his inspirational efforts in fundraising for MacMillan Cancer Support.  Robert aims to walk 10,000 miles for the charity, covering three miles every day walking around Kirkintilloch.  To date he has completed 3,000 miles of his challenge.  I’ve posted a picture of our meeting on the Instagram page.  Both the Depute Provost and I have many more exciting civic duties lined up over the coming months - follow us on Instagram to meet some of the wonderful people living in our communities!”
