The Befriending Project for adults provides a valuable support service for older, disabled, housebound and isolated people living in East Dunbartonshire.

Referrals are received from social workers, GPs, health visitors and voluntary sector care workers.

What is befriending?

A befriender is a volunteer who spends time each week with a vulnerable, socially isolated adult on a one-to-one basis. By providing companionship either in the person's own home or out and about in the local community (eg in a cafe, cinema or park) or via email, volunteers can make a real difference to an individual's life.
