Do you have what it takes to volunteer to become a Befriender?

East Dunbartonshire Young Persons Befriending Scheme is looking for responsible adults who have the time to help those aged from eight to 18 who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

The scheme gives people the chance to help children and young people who would benefit from spending quality time with a stable and positive adult.

Volunteers are asked to spend four hours of their time every two weeks for at least one year. They are all professionally assessed and given training - support will be given and all expenses will be paid.

Around 21 approved Befrienders already take part in the scheme, which has been running since 1998.
