Speed humps

We use speed humps (humps on the road) to reduce vehicle speeds and discourage traffic from using residential roads as short cuts, on roads with speed limits of 30 miles an hour or less that have street lighting.

There is a statutory consultation process surrounding the provision of speed humps, and traffic calming schemes are progressed on a risk prioritised basis, following a detailed analysis and design process.

If drivers use the correct speed and take care there should be no problems to vehicles.
