Technical Notes 2023, Issue 203 - Christmas Suspension of Parking Charges

  1. The purpose of this technical note is to advise Members of the arrangements for suspension of parking charges across East Dunbartonshire over the festive period.
     
  2. In line with the approved Parking Management Plan (2022), Council can “Suspend parking charges for events and activities that are considered to have vital importance and worth to the local economy” (Policy 10).
     

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 202 - 2023 Festive Lighting Switch on Schedule

  1. The Technical Note is intended to provide an update on the planned Festive Lighting Projects and Events schedule.
     
  2. The Roads Street Lighting Team provide technical support to local community groups who lead on switch on events.
     
  3. It should be noted that some locations do not have a formal switch on events and in these circumstances the installations shall be left “fused up” to come on automatically with the streetlights at dusk on the designated dates as per the under noted table.

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 200 - Second Review of Scottish Parliamentary Boundaries – Local Inquiries

1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members that Boundaries Scotland has announced arrangements for Local Inquiries into its provisional proposals for Scottish Parliament constituency boundaries.    

2. Following consideration of the representations received during the initial consultation conducted In May-June 2023, a Local Inquiry is to be held in respect of the Bearsden, Milngavie & Clydebank North constituency.

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 197 - Recruitment of Chief Executive Officer

  1. Following a robust recruitment and selection process, I am delighted to confirm that the Policy & Resources sub-committee has appointed Ann Davie as the Council’s next Chief Executive Officer.
     
  2. Ann will transition into the role in the coming weeks.
     
  3. I am sure you will all join me in congratulating Ann on her appointment and wish her well as she takes up her post and steers the Council going forward.

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 196 - UK Government – Levelling Up Fund

  1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to provide Members with an update on UK Government Levelling Up Fund (UK LUF).
  2. Round 3 of UK LUF was expected to open over the summer 2023. It has been confirmed this week that there will be no Round 3 to which bids for funding can be made. Instead, allocations have been made directly to some projects unsuccessful in the previous round. The East Dunbartonshire project has not been selected.

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 195 - Recruitment of Chief Education Officer

  1. Following a robust recruitment and selection process, I am delighted to confirm that the Policy & Resources sub-committee has appointed Greg Bremner as the Council’s Chief Education Officer.
  2. Greg’s appointment takes place with immediate effect, and I am sure you will all join me in congratulating Greg on his appointment.
  3. This is the final permanent Executive Officer appointment to our Strategic Leadership Team.

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 194 - Clachan of Campsie – Vandalised Festive Lights on Trees

  1. The purpose of the Technical Note is to provide Members with an update on the festive lights at Clachan of Campsie.

  2. Upon inspection by the Roads Streetlighting Team on Sunday 12th November in advance of the festive lights being checked and tested in advance of the actual switch on, it was discovered that the lights and associated fuse boxes had been cut and removed by persons unknown.
