Details: 
  1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members on the work of Boundaries Scotland and its Revised Proposals for Scottish Parliament constituency boundaries which were published today.    

    Revised Proposals Summary

  1. The East Dunbartonshire electorate currently contributes to elect 2 Constituency MSPs – Clydebank & Milngavie and Strathkelvin & Bearsden.  At present, East Dunbartonshire Ward 1 and part of Ward 2 contribute to Clydebank & Milngavie.  The remainder of Ward 2 and Wards 3 – 7 contribute to Strathkelvin & Bearsden.
     
  2. The revised proposals retain the current Constituency names of Clydebank & Milngavie and Strathkelvin & Bearsden.  All of the electorate within East Dunbartonshire Wards 1 & 2 will contribute to the election of an MSP for the Clydebank & Milngavie constituency.  In addition, there is a small adjustment to West Dunbartonshire Ward 6.  All of the electorate in East Dunbartonshire Wards 3-7 will contribute to the election of an MSP for the Strathkelvin & Bearsden Constituency.

    Consultation

  1. As stated above, the revised proposals were published earlier today.  This is followed by a consultation of one month, lasting until 15 May 2024.  During this time comments concerning the proposals can be submitted to Boundaries Scotland.

All comments must be submitted by the conclusion of the Statutory Consultation Period which is - 15 May 2024.
