Details: 
  1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to provide an update on the Green Infrastructure Project at Woodhill & Etive Parks, Bishopbriggs
  2. Following a successful tender, P1 Solutions has been appointed to carry out green infrastructure improvements within the parks.
  3. The works will include the re-shaping of areas of amenity grass to form gently sloped basin areas to temporarily hold surface water during storm events; creation of roadside swales on Menteith Avenue and Etive Crescent to re-divert surface water; meadow creation; provision of a food growing space with associated access; and provision of a bike track using material from the excavated basins. Following a Traffic Management Appeals Board of 19 March, traffic calming will be introduced on Springfield Road and Menteith Avenue.
  4. The works are fully funded through existing capital budgets held by Roads & Neighbourhood Services.  Provision of such amenities will help alleviate issues or fulfil need as per the Local Development Plan 2 (adopted) provision CF2, Bishopbriggs Town Centre Strategy, Open Space Strategy, East Dunbartonshire Local Biodiversity Action Plan, East Dunbartonshire Food Growing Strategy (emerging), Joint Health Improvement Plan, and Council duties in relation to Surface Water Management planning under the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009.
  5. Pre-site works are underway with site set up due to start on 29 April 2024 with works expected to complete before winter 2024, followed by a 12-month maintenance programme and spring seeding. 
  6. Following the initial site set up, the first phase will be the construction of the Sustainable Urban Drainage Pond and associated works which is current scheduled to last approximately 77 days.
  7. The programme of works is set with various phases and works included in the overall project. However, these are subject to change and may be impacted by weather and other external factors.
  8. Regular updates will be provided via the Council’s Social media channels.
