Details: 

1. The purpose of this technical note is to provide Elected Members with an update on public consultation events planned for May and June 2023 in preparation for the submission of the planning application for the Balmuildy Primary School project. 

2. A Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN) was submitted for the redevelopment of Balmuildy Primary School on 12 May 2023 to the Council’s Planning Service.  Works will include the delivery of a new school facility, including early years provision, car parking and dedicated drop off zone, sports facilities, landscaping, drainage infrastructure and associated works.  Balmuildy Community Council were served a copy of the PoAN along with all Local Elected Members for Ward’s 4 and 5.

3.  As part of the PoAN process, public consultation events are planned in May and June 2023 where information banners will be displayed to provide details of the proposal and members of the Project Team will be on hand to answer any questions that attendees may have.  Details for each event are included below:

4. Event 1 will provide information on key principles that will impact the development proposal for the project and some outline design information, seeking feedback from those attending.  Event 2 will provide a further update on design information, reflecting the comments and feedback received during the first session.

5. Each event will be advertised in the local press at least a week in advance.  Additionally, the offer of a separate briefing meeting has been extended to Bishopbriggs Community Council.

6. The project planning submission is anticipated to follow around September 2023 and works to build the new school are currently anticipated to begin in Summer 2024.  A detailed project update Report will be brought to Council for consideration in June 2023.
