Details:
- The purpose of this technical note is to inform Members of the exceptional school closure programme to facilitate the move of Campsie View School and Merkland School to the new Woodland View School for August 2023 prior to the start of the new academic session. A detailed transition plan has been drawn up jointly between the Council and the contractor for this transition of resources and specialist equipment to take place.
- It has been standard practice across Scotland for Councils to seek approval from the Scottish Ministers to close schools early to facilitate the transfer of resources and associated equipment to new school facilities.
- Permission has been requested and granted by Scottish Ministers to close Campsie View and Merkland Schools for one day at the end of this session 2023 and two days at the start of the new session 2023 - 2024. The schools will close for pupils on 27 June 2023 at 1pm and staff will have the afternoon of that day and the following morning, 28 June 2023, to pack learning and teaching resources.
- Both schools will close on 28 June at 1pm. The Playscheme will operate out of each school over the summer holiday as normal.
- To allow staff time to unpack resources and prepare the new Woodland View School for pupils returning, permission has also been given by the Scottish Ministers to close the school to pupils on 16 and 17 August 2023, with pupils returning on Friday 18 August 2023.
- Letters will be issued to staff and parents of Campsie View and Merkland Schools to inform them of the exceptional closure dates.
