Details:
  1. This Technical Note has been written to inform Elected Members of the requirement to carry out the felling of the Gruffalo statue at Kilmardinny Loch.

  2. Following an inspection by a Council appointed tree contractor, the Gruffalo statue, which was originally carved from a diseased beech tree, has deteriorated to such an extent that it requires to be felled for health and safety reasons.

  3. The Council recognises the statue is well loved within the community and for residents visiting Kilmardinny Loch.

  4. Officers will arrange the works and will investigate opportunities with the Gruffalo publishers in order to replace the Gruffalo and other key characters from the Julia Donaldson book, subject to licence conditions and fees.
