Publication:
This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared out with the Council.
Details:
  1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Elected Members on work associated with the Bishopbriggs Town Centre regeneration that is underway as part of the Council’s City Deal Project.

  2. The Bishopbriggs Public Realm Plan published in the summer of 2022 set out aims to give priority to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport vehicles, rework the existing public realm, and deliver new public spaces - thereby creating new opportunities for social interaction and play, and helping make the town centre a more active, inclusive and engaging place. The Council commissioned a specialist design team to develop and create concept designs for the most critical projects and sub-projects developed as part of the Public Realm Plan.

  3. Given that Bishopbriggs Park is in need of upgrading and improvements, the Council extended the boundary area of the design work to include Bishopbriggs Park.  As part of the town centre regeneration work, the City Deal team will be responsible for the development of a masterplan for Bishopbriggs Park.  Once complete, the Greenspace team will be responsible for securing funding and implementing the actions and interventions set out in the masterplan.

  4. This consultation is an opportunity to engage with and test the concept public realm proposals for Bishopbriggs town centre and Bishopbriggs Park. It is important to note that these proposals are not fixed. The feedback from the consultation will help shape a more detailed design proposal, which the Council will share in a final round of town centre consultation later in the year.‍

  5. The consultation will run from Monday 6th February 2023, until Tuesday 28th February 2023, closing at 5pm. It will comprise of an online exhibition using an interactive Storymap (similar to the previous exhibition and consultation for Bishopbriggs Town Centre) and a drop in event to be held in Bishopbriggs War Memorial Hall from 12noon until 6.30pm on Tuesday 7th February 2023.  Along with Council officers, the appointed design team will be at the drop in event to answer any questions.
  1. The online exhibition shall be launched today, with a period of promotion over social media and the Council website. The following link can be used to access the consultation

  2. The communications materials used will have to present complex information to a non-technical audience and careful thought will be given to ensuring that communications are designed to be appropriate for the specific audience. All materials will be available on an engagement webpage on the Council website with hard copies available in Bishopbriggs Library.
  1. Should the audience wish to comment or ask any questions, relevant details of the City Deal Officer responsible for Bishopbriggs Town Centre will be supplied.
