Elected Member “In Person” Surgeries – Further Advice
Responsible Officer:
Karen M Donnelly, Chief Solicitor & Monitoring Officer
Publication:
This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Member. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.
Details:

1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to supplement the recently issued Technical Note (Ref 036-22) which set out arrangements for the reintroduction of In Person Surgeries.

2. As advised previously, in light of the relaxation of restrictions, it is now possible for Members to resume face to face surgeries.  There have been queries from Members regarding arrangements for surgeries in light of the up-coming local government elections.

3. Pre-election period guidance will be issued to Members next month.  In relation to surgeries, then Members should note that it is in order for surgeries to continue up to the election given that Members remain councillors until midnight on the 4th into 5th May 2022.

4. Notwithstanding the above, Members are reminded that any publicity materials advertising surgeries, including posters placed in Council venues, should relate to the surgery and not party political/election campaigning.  Further, the lets should be used for the purposes of surgeries only.
