Details: 
  1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to provide Members with an update on the progress of the development of our Carers Strategy 2023-26 and current ‘live’ communication, and engagement process.
     
  2. East Dunbartonshire’s ‘Carers Strategy 2023-26 Consultation Paper’ and associated ‘Communication, Engagement and Participation Plan’ were approved for implementation by the Health and Social Care Partnership Board on 17th November 2022.
     
  3. The Consultation Paper is aligned to national strategic ambitions, and sets the local context and background to the development of the new Carers Strategy 2023-26, and anticipated key challenges and proposed areas for priority action over the next three years.
     
  4. The consultation process commenced on the 18th November and will run to the 31st December 2022. Communication channels include engagement with carers, partners, stakeholders and the general public through formal meetings, engagement sessions, HSCP Website, social media and media releases.
     
  5. In addition to the structured engagement processes, our local carers support service ‘Carers Link’ and East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action (EDVA) will facilitate discussions with carers across East Dunbartonshire to ensure that their views are fully reflected in the development and co-production of our new Carers Strategy
     
  6. The Health and Social Care Partnership are also working jointly with ‘Carers Link’ to gather people’s views as extensively as possible via an online, postal and email survey.

  8. On conclusion of the consultation and engagement phase the draft Carers Strategy 2023-26 will be produced by the Health and Social Care Partnership based on the responses and feedback received.  The draft strategy will be subject to a further final consultation phase, before relevant approval is sought from the Health and Social Care Partnership Board.
